Laboratories

The Arcitecture study program of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara has many kinds of laboratories that help the process of learning and creating for each academic community. Laboratories with “innovation and learning support” can be used in academic and non-academic creative processes.

Laboratories’ facilities such as hardware and software are constantly improved, renewed, and updated to follow the newest trend in technology.

The laboratory hopes to train the students to adapt to industry needs to produce creative, innovative, and professional graduates.

Architecture Studio

Architecture Studios are rooms for studying design theory and practice as well as a space for students to learn actively, not only through theories in the classroom. These studios, located on the 2nd floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower D, are assigned to each generation, which will become their workplace for the whole semester. Students will do a lot of activities there: make sketches, work with drawings, do research based on field observations, etc. Moreover, it is a place to process, where students can gather to discuss and design architecture.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) Architectural Laboratory

Building Information Modeling (BIM) Architectural Laboratory is located on the 5th floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower D. In response to the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the UMN Architecture study program introduces students to digital design techniques, especially architectural design, 3D model simulation, parametric, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). D508 computer laboratory with 41 PC units capable of running BIM applications, with the following specifications: DELL optiplex 3050, Intel Core i7 -7700 3.6 GHz, Memory 16 GB to 32 GB GDR 4, 128GB SSD, 1 TB hard drive capacity, VGA AMD Radeon R5 430 2GB, OS Windows 10.

Some of the applications contained in the BIM Architecture Laboratory D508 are Twinmotion 2021, SketchUP 2017, Rhino 6, Revit 2022, AutoCAD 2020, Archicad 25, Adobe Illustrator 2021, Adobe Photoshop 202, Adobe InDesign 2021.

Architecture Material Archiving

Architecture Material Archiving, located on the 2nd floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower D, was created due to the importance of knowledge about substances and materials in designing buildings. It functioned so that students understand the character of the material, recognize product sizes, and know the latest innovations used in building design.

Architecture Design Repository

Architecture Design Repository is a storeroom for the Architecture study program, located on the 2nd floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower D. Every work that is kept there must be accompanied by the signature of the person in charge/ borrower and explain what the works are kept/returned. Students usually kept mock-ups and their designs there.

Printing Laboratory (U-Print)

Printing Laboratory is located on the 1st floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower D. Students know the printing laboratory as U-Print, which supports the printing needs of the Architecture study program’s tasks. U-Print has various facilities, such as A3-sized laser printing, plotter machine, laser cutting machine, binding machine, and 3D printing machine.

Students usually print their presentations and architecture mock-ups here. Display of printing works with any media and variation of finishing such as acrylic, MDF wood, packaging, hard-cover book, kind of bindings, and kind of papers can be found at Printing Laboratory. These displays can be a reference source for students to choose which printing technique suits their project.

Workshop and Crafting Laboratory

Workshop and Crafting Laboratory is located on the basement floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower C. This room is a working lab mainly used for heavy work such as painting, sawing woods and bamboo, engraving, etc. Students are usually assigned to create an actual size bamboo structure based on the theme; therefore, this separated laboratory is fitted for activities using the carpentry tools, heater, or any chemicals because it won’t create pollution and clog the drain line. Machines that support those activities, such as sewing machines, APAR, stove, and canting batik, are also facilitated in this lab.

Photography Laboratory

Visual Communication Design Studio is located on the 8th and 9th floor of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Tower D. It is used to learn the backbone of Visual Communication Design study programs. The layout and environment of the room are made, so the students are facing each other to maximize the discussion process, brainstorming, and analysis in the study session. This room is made as wide as possible so the students are comfortable doing their projects, assignments, mid-term exams, final exams, and final projects.

Lab Procedure

Applicants fill in the booking form (bit.ly/PinjamLabFSDUMN).
The Photography Laboratory is an exception. Please book the Photography Laboratory at gapura.umn.ac.id.

The Laboratory officer, Arts and Design Faculty laboratory coordinator, and HSE Team will check the form’s completeness and the availability of laboratory and/with the requested equipment.

The applicant will get an email notification approval from [email protected] once the form is accepted. Hence, the applicant has to make sure that the email stated in the form is an active email and can be contacted by staff.

The laboratory is only available to book on working days and hours of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, Monday to Friday from 08.00 – 17.00.

The book time for the laboratory and/with equipment should be the same as what has been stated on the form. The user who’s late at returning the equipment will be put on the black-list for one semester.

All Arts and Design Faculty laboratories and/with equipment users should follow the general and particular rules that have been started and will be sent to each user’s email when the booking form is accepted.
